Kashmir Facing Curfew After Recent Unrest

Soldiers dressed in riot gear patrolled the streets of Srinagar today after an informal curfew was imposed in order to quell the recent unrest sparked by the death of a teenage boy last Sunday. The teenage Farooq was allegedly shot and hit in the head by a tear gas shell fired by Indian police during a clash between the police and Kashmiri protesters on Sunday evening. Farooq later died from his injuries at a hospital. Authorities imposed an Indian police and Muslim protesters clashed for the second consecutive day against the killing of Farooq, hurling stones at Indian police in many parts of Kashmir and in retaliation Indian police fired teargas and live rounds to disperse scores of Kashmiris. Farooq was allegedly shot in the head and hit by a tear gas shell fired by Indian police during a clash between the police and Kashmiri protesters on Sunday evening.
