At last year's New York City Wine & Food Festival, David Chang ruffled feathers with his glib assessment of the Left Coast's culinary capital: "Fucking every restaurant in San Francisco is serving figs on a plate with nothing on it. " It's not exactly the stuff of Biggie and Tupac, but the East Coast-West Coast gastro-rivalry has seen plenty of (tongue-in-cheek) posturing since Chang's dis hit the blogs and San Fran pizza whiz Nate Appleman was installed at Pulino's on the Bowery. Attendees can find grub from SF powerhouses like Daniel Patterson (Coi), but look for eats from local heroes including Chang, the Torrisi Italian Specialities crew and April Bloomfield too.
